Gur Alroey is Professor in the Department of Israel Studies; Director of the Ruderman Program for American Jewish Studies; and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Haifa. He is the author of Bread to Eat and Clothes to Wear: Letters from Jewish Migrants in the Early Twentieth Century (Wayne State University Press, 2011); and An Unpromising Land: The Jewish Migration to Palestine in the Early Twentieth Century (Stanford Press, 2014).
